IRONBULL announces 2019-2020 events schedule
WAUSAU - IRONBULL, a newly formed outdoor recreation non-profit, recently released its 2019 and 2020 events schedule. The Wausau region’s waterways and trails will be showcased in each event.
The inaugural race, the IRONBULL ultra trail 50k/15k, will be held on October 5 during peak fall colors starting at Rib Mountain State Park. Runners will complete the point-to-point course in downtown Wausau on the 400 Block in conjunction with Harvest Fest presented by Wausau Events.
A second race in 2019 is the Red Granite Grinder bike race on October 19 with three distances for all ability levels. The two longer courses are gravel bike races and the 30 mile ride is a family-friendly event to be held mostly on pavement featuring several area bike paths. Each race starts and ends on the 400 Block in downtown Wausau.
Six events are planned for 2020 leveraging Central Wisconsin’s venues and seasons.
Revenues from the events will be distributed to partner organizations including the Woodson YMCA, Wausau & Marathon County Parks & Recreation Foundation and the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, among others.
All races, except the winter triathlon, will consist of at least two racecourses - an extreme race and a second recreational race suitable for a wide range of abilities.
Andrea Larson, IRONBULL’s executive director, said, “Each event is designed to draw in the community. We plan to offer something for everyone of every age and ability level to enjoy at IRONBULL events, whether they are racing, spectating, or volunteering.”
Events are free to spectators.
