Wausau’s Ultramarathon Gets Steeper

Wausau’s first ultramarathon, the IRONBULL Ultra Trail, returns for a third year featuring both a 50k and 15k trail run. Racers run the entire race on a mix of private and Rib Mountain State Park trails after starting with the checkered flag on the race track.

The Underdown Trail running race and Thunderdown in the Underdown mountain bike race have combined in 2021. Previously held back-to-back weekends, the races will now be held on a single epic day.

WSAW covered the annual charity event, Ironring River Float, hosted by IRONBULL. The 1.5 mile float ran down the Wisconsin River starting at Gilbert Park, ending at Wausau on Water near downtown Wausau.

After offering a float down the Wisconsin River in 2020, IRONBULL launches the Ironring River Float on June 26. Participants may float down the Wisconsin River in an innertube or paddle.
