My favorite training buddies have become my children. They innocently hold me accountable to bike commuting when it’s more convenient to drive, eating healthy, and practicing new skills. The carefree spirit becomes contagious and even the mundane miles offer opportunities to create lasting memories with the people I love the most, doing what I love.
One of area’s newest disc golf courses located at Liberty Park offers newcomers and families a great opportunity to give the sport a try. With the park’s other amenities, this is a perfect family outing or destination bike ride.
With a playground equipment upgrade at Flax Tot Lot, our family was motivated to bike to a “new” park. And it was a hit with several milestones along the way.
Despite its size of just 50 acres, Gaska Park is worth a stop. Its labyrinth of trails will bridges and wildlife is a perfect weekday outing or weekend picnic!
Although many skiers consider the Birkie the end of the ski season, I find the door wide open for many ski adventures. I venture with my daughter for her first big adventure on the trails beyond the Cookie Trail at Nine Mile County Forest.
