Flatwater Paddle Races

Objective- Timed race on marked course

  • Short course 1 lap, 4 miles

  • Long course 4 laps, 16 miles

Each course will start and end at Oak Island Park. The long and short course will share the same 4 mile lap. The pro classes will start 5 minutes ahead of the recreational classes for each race.

Each race will start downstream just south of the walk bridge connecting Oak Island Park to Isle of Ferns Park.  Paddlers will head downstream 100 yards to a left to right 180 degree buoy turn. Next, paddlers will go upstream on the east shore of Isle of Fern Park.

At the north tip of the island, paddles will take a channel that will be marked to head across the Wisconsin River to the west shore. Paddlers will continue downstream river right on the west shore which turns to a north shore for 1 1/2 miles to DC Everest Park.

Paddles will turn around a buoy right to left, cross the Wisconsin River, and go upstream to the south shore towards Memorial Park. Paddlers will stay on the right shore back to Oak Island Park.

  • Short course participants finish following the right/east shore.

  • Long course participants stay on the left/west shore and complete 3 more laps.
